Who are you looking for?
We are looking for top undergraduate and graduate students from any discipline seeking entrepreneurial experience at some of the world's most innovative startups. Demonstrated interest in startups and venture capital is a plus! Students must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a full-time degree program in the academic periods before and after NEA Next (Spring and Fall 2019). Graduate students need not be enrolled full-time in Spring 2019 if they will matriculate in Fall 2019.
What do I need to prepare and share to apply?
Applicants must fill out the online application by 8:00 PM EST (5:00 PM PST) on February 22, 2019.
What does the selection process look like?
After the application deadline, NEA will select top candidates to become NEA Next Finalists. NEA portfolio companies in New York and the San Francisco Bay Area will view Finalist applications and will reach out to candidates of interest to conduct interview processes. Candidates accepted into roles within the NEA portfolio will join the NEA Next Class of 2019.
Do I get to provide input on which company I work at for the summer?
In the NEA Next application, you will get to rank companies based on your preferences for roles, geography (NYC or SF Bay Area), and company type. As with any other interview process, you will ultimately have the decision to accept or rescind an offer from portfolio companies.
How will my time be spent during the program?
We ask that you work full-time at your host company for a minimum of 8-weeks between June and September. A designated mentor within that company will work directly with you throughout your internship.
Do you pay a salary during the program?
You will receive a competitive salary from your host company, which will be negotiated directly with them.
When is the program?
The NEA Next program is flexible depending on your university schedule and portfolio company needs. We ask that you work a minimum of 8 weeks at your fellowship between June and September, 2019. We also expect your attendance at NEA Next social events, which will be planned during the middle of the summer (likely July and August) to accommodate the range in university schedules.
Where is the program?
The program is based in New York and the San Francisco Bay Area. Both cohorts of NEA Next will operate independently.
Do you help me relocate and find housing?
We can provide guidance on where you might be able to find housing, but housing will not be provided as part of the program.
